The China-Europe freight train station in Keqiao district, Shaoxing broke ground on Aug 6.

The 8.8-hectare station will include a customs area and a cargo area, according to the project contractor. The station is expected to provide Shaoxing's exports with direct access to Europe.

"This will be the first railway export port in Shaoxing. Customs clearance services will be available after two months," he said.

Shaoxing's foreign trade value accounted for about 9 percent of the provincial total in 2021. The city's textile products are exported to 192 countries and regions.

Since 2015, over 160,000 twenty-foot equivalent units have been transported from the district to Europe via the Ningbo Zhoushan Port in Ningbo.

"The China-Europe freight train station will help Shaoxing companies expand their presence in the international market," said an official at the district government of Keqiao.
