Zhejiang sees robust foreign trade to the EU

Zhejiang's exports and imports to the European Union were worth 446.96 billion yuan ($65.13 billion) from Jan to Jul 2022, up 21.8 percent year-on-year, according to official statistics from Hangzhou Customs.

The European Union is presently the largest trade market for East China's Zhejiang province.

From Jan to Jul, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy were the top three exporters of goods to Zhejiang province, with the value of their exports totaling 77.47 billion yuan, 59.13 billion yuan and 41.79 billion yuan, up 8.8 percent, 40.3 percent and 32.6 percent respectively.

In terms of the scale of foreign trade, Ningbo, Hangzhou and Jinhua were the top three foreign trade partners, with the total import and export value of the three cities accounting for 62.3 percent of the province's total foreign trade with the EU.

Notably, stable growth was seen in the exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products. From Jan to Jul, Zhejiang's exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products to the EU rose 28.1 percent and 34.4 percent respectively, accounting for 51.5 percent and 14.8 percent of the total value of Zhejiang's exports to the EU in the same period.

During the same period, Zhejiang's imports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products from the EU were worth 21.63 billion yuan and 10.15 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 2.4 percent and 11.8 percent, and accounting for 36.9 percent and 17.3 percent of the total respectively.
