The Sock Industry Brain, a digital platform for the sock industry in Zhuji, a county-level city under the administration of Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, is now operational, local media reported on Sept 19.

Wei Xiaoming, chief of the platform's operation center, said that the platform will integrate and share data between the government and the market, and improve the efficiency of resource allocation.

"All affairs related to the sock industry can be matched with solutions on the platform," said Wei.

According to Wei, the platform can help to predict market demands, handle recruitment matters, and address the issues that are impeding the development of a company.

Zhuji's Datang subdistrict has more than 10,000 sock companies. Their combined  output value currently exceeds 70 billion yuan ($9.99 billion).

According to local authorities, the sock industry's digitalization drive has boosted the subdistrict's exports in socks to 6.68 billion yuan in the January to July period, a year-on-year growth of 65.86 percent.
