Shaoxing inaugurates institute for Lu Xun's younger brother

The inauguration ceremony for the Research Institute of Zhou Jianren, the younger brother of Lu Xun, one of the most prominent Chinese writers of the 20th century, and the seminar on Zhou Jianren was held at the Zhou Jianren Museum in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 9.

Zhou was a well-known sociologist, translator, biologist, a researcher of Lu Xun and a pioneer in women's liberation.

Zhou's youngest daughter Zhou Qu and her husband Gu Mingyuan, as well as Zhou's family relatives attended the event.

Zhou, who has lived in Shaoxing for more than 30 years, once served as the governor of Zhejiang and the vice-president of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is deeply respected by the people from his hometown for his significant contributions to the development of Shaoxing.

Zhou Qu, her husband and representatives from the Zhejiang government unveiled the plaque for the Research Institute of Zhou Jianren.

During the seminar, experts spoke highly of Zhou's merits and achievements in translation, biology and sociology. They also agreed to conduct a thorough research on him from various perspectives.
