Holiday consumption in Shaoxing springs back

During the week-long Spring Festival holiday, which ended last Friday, cinemas, restaurants, and tourist attractions in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, were swamped with people eager to unleash their pent-up desire to spend money, local media outlets reported.
According to the reports, the sales of 35 surveyed key trade firms in Shaoxing reached 454 million yuan ($67.19 million) during the holiday, up 5.1 percent year-on-year.
The business revenue of three surveyed dining firms in Shaoxing recorded a year-on-year growth of 143 percent.
The city held various activities to promote consumption in its shopping complexes, pedestrian streets and commercial zones during the period.
As of Jan 27, the box office revenue in Shaoxing had amounted to 40 million yuan, more than the figure reached in the same period of 2019.
During the holiday, more than 2.5 million visitors traveled to the city, up 41.3 percent year-on-year. The city raked in 3.29 billion yuan in tourism revenue during the period.
