Shaoxing Asian Games command center holds first conference
The Shaoxing Command Center for the Asian Games Hangzhou held its first conference on Feb 26, during which Shaoxing mayor Shi Huifang emphasized the importance of accelerating preparations for the sporting event, which will be held from Sept 23 to Oct 8.
Shaoxing is one of the co-host cities for Asian Games Hangzhou.
Shi pointed out that the city will meet the standards set by the Beijing Winter Olympics, carry out practical tests, enhance team building, and improve operational capabilities.
The city is also aiming to use the Asian Games as an opportunity to promote itself, according to Shi.
The mayor then stressed about the importance of building upon the Asian Games' legacy and advancing the city's sports culture beyond the games themselves. The city is currently planning to expand efforts to open sports facilities to the public, attract high-level sporting events, and plan for post-Asian Games initiatives that would establish Shaoxing as a sports-oriented city.
