The first Zhejiang Provincial Frisbee Open Championship was held in Xinchang county, Shaoxing from April 15-16, with eight frisbee teams from across the province taking part.

The event drew over 160 players from Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Ningbo, and other parts of the province. The Ningbo UFO team emerged as the champion of the event.

Frisbee was recognized as an event in the World Games in 2001. It was officially recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee in 2015.

According to a report from online technology media platform 36 Kr, Frisbee was one of the most popular sports for young people in 2022. Chinese news portal Jiemian previously reported that there are over 1 million people who play frisbee in China today.

The Xinchang county government organized the championship with the aim of promoting frisbee as a national fitness program.
