The third Zhejiang-Taiwan Youth Baseball and Softball Open kicked off at the Quzhou Sports Center Stadium in Quzhou on July 30.

More than 200 players from 14 baseball and softball teams from Zhejiang and Taiwan participated in the game.

There were five teams from Quzhou, three from Nantou county in Taiwan, two from Hangzhou, one from Ningbo, one from Wenzhou, and two from Jiaxing.

The Youth Baseball and Softball Open was founded in 2021. The first two sessions were held in Yuhuan, a county-level city in Taizhou, and Haishu district in Ningbo, respectively, aiming to promote interaction between youth in Zhejiang and Taiwan.

The third Youth Baseball and Softball Open consists of three stations including Quzhou, Yuhuan in Taizhou, and Fenghua in Ningbo.

After the event, athletes from Taiwan will go to Shaoxing on Aug 6 to visit the Shaoxing Baseball and Softball Sports Center, the baseball and softball venues for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

"Young baseball and softball players from both sides of the Strait have come together to compete and make friends on the field. This not only promotes baseball and softball, but also deepens sporting ties between Zhejiang and Taiwan," said Zhi Le, deputy director of the Quzhou sports bureau.
