As the Hangzhou Asian Games draw near, preparations are in full swing in Shaoxing as various Asian Games venues undergo meticulous equipment maintenance and façade cleaning, local media reported on Aug 2.
Against the vastness of the Shaoxing Olympic Sports Center, the figures of "spider-men" cleaning the exterior walls appear minuscule. Technicians Huang Shouliang and Lyu Guilin wield cleaning brushes with unwavering precision.
Huang and Lyu Guilin are seasoned experts in high-rise building façade cleaning. Since July, they've faced scorching temperatures nearly every day, operating cherry pickers to cleanse the building's exterior.
Commencing on July 5, this high-altitude cleaning operation mobilized five cherry pickers and eight high-altitude cleaning technicians. The tallest cherry picker stands at an impressive 28 meters, complemented by two others at 22 meters and one at 17 meters.
"We try to avoid working at midday and in the afternoon, usually starting around five or six in the morning. This way, our cleaning crew can wrap up before 11:00 am," stated team leader Qiu Shichao. Operating at high altitudes amidst extreme temperatures demands rigorous safety protocols, which he oversees daily.
They said that the facades of the Shaoxing Olympic Sports Center swimming pool and archery venue are already spotless. The cleaning of the exhibition hall's exterior and interior is also nearing completion.
