The 10th Sports Meeting of Shaoxing and the 3rd Citizen Sports Meeting closed in Shengzhou gymnasium in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Oct 28.

The Sports Meeting, which is held every four years, is a comprehensive sports event with the highest standard and largest scale in Shaoxing. The 10th Sports Meeting started on May 10 and lasted for six months.

It was divided into two parts, the youth competition and the adult competition, with all together 46 high-level events. More than 7,000athletes have taken part in this competition. During the event, Shaoxing won wide praise from athletes and all walks of life with its first-class venue facilities and excellent organizational services.

In the competition, the athletes kept challenging their limits, competed with passion and aimed for the best bravely. A total of 1,196.5 gold medals, 854 silver medals and 804 bronze medals were awarded. Records were set in many events such as weightlifting, shooting and athletics.

At the closing ceremony, Qiu Jianyong, Party secretary of Shengzhou, said in his speech that after four years of careful preparation and six months of fierce competition, the 10th Sports Meeting has achieved a double harvest of competition results and spiritual civilization. He said that it is a grand event to achieve dreams, enhance friendship and show performances.

Meanwhile, the award ceremony was held to award the units that achieved good results in the total score or the total number of medals, performed well in sportsmanship. In addition, the flag handover ceremony was also held, and the flag was handed over to Yuecheng district, where the next Sports Meeting of Shaoxing will be held.
