Xie Zhenye and Wu Qingfeng, two champions of the Hangzhou Asian Games, returned to their alma mater - Shaoxing Sports School on Oct 22. They shared their experience with and gave encouragement to the students. Seeing the idols in their hearts, the teachers and students were very excited and took photos with them.

In the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, Xie claimed gold medal in men's 100m with his personal best - 9.97 seconds. It is the first gold medal in an individual event of his Asiad career. Besides, Xie, with his team, helped China win the gold in men's 4x100m with a season-best 38.29 seconds.

In the women's 4x100m freestyle relay, Wu and her teammates clinched the gold medal with 3:33.96, breaking the Asiad record. This is also the first gold medal of athletes from Shaoxing, a city in Zhejiang province, in the 19th Asian Games.

"No one is born strong, all from weak to strong," Xie said that as athletes, it is common to face setbacks and difficulties. Actually they are not so scary. What is important is to make every effort to overcome them so that we can keep surpassing ourselves and achieving good results.

When talking about how to persevere and achieve success in swimming, Wu said that she didn't think about taking the path of competitive sports at first. Later, with the encouragement of her first coach, she saw her talent in this area. Since then, she firmly kept to the goal and belief in her heart, and unremittingly worked hard so she was able to make all these achievements. It is important for athletes to have a clear goal, said Wu.

After listening to Xie's and Wu's words, the students in Shaoxing Sports School were greatly encouraged. They said that they would learn from Xie and Wu and train hard, hoping that they could stand on the winner's podium like them one day.
