Shaoxing athlete Jiang breaks Asian record

Athlete Jiang Yuyan from Shaoxing's Yuecheng district clinched a gold medal, shattering the Asian record, on Oct 23, the first day of the Hangzhou Asian Para Games.

As the starting gun echoed, Jiang swiftly dove into the water, establishing a commanding lead. After the first turn, her lead over the second-place swimmer widened, ultimately securing the championship with a time of 1 minute and 20.58 seconds, breaking the Asian record.

Jiang's family was present at the event and witnessed the entire process.

In an interview after the race, Jiang expressed her satisfaction with her performance in the 100m backstroke. She credited the enthusiasm of the audience and encouragement of her family, vowing to continue preparing for upcoming events. She hoped to replicate the success of today's race.

Throughout this Asian Para Games, Jiang has been striving tirelessly, consistently surpassing her personal bests and continually rewriting the history of para-swimming in Asia.

Next, she is set to compete in the women's 100m freestyle S7, women's 200m individual medley SM6, women's 50m butterfly S6, women's 400m freestyle S6, and women's 50m freestyle S6 events.
