Shaoxing Development Conference marks significant achievements

The 2023 Shaoxing Development Conference opened in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 11.
The conference witnessed the signing of 26 high-quality investment projects with total investments of 86.986 billion yuan ($11.93 billion) being signed, and exhibited the landmark achievements of the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Double-Eight Strategy and the 40th anniversary of Shaoxing's upgrade from a county into a city.
The 26 investment projects cover fields such as high-end equipment, electronic information, modern medicine, new materials, modern service industry, fund cooperation, education and technology.
The exhibition of the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Double-Eight Strategy in Shaoxing showed earth-shaking changes in the city in the fields of market systems, opening up to the outside world, industrial breakthroughs, urban-rural integration, ecological environment, counterpart assistance, culture and talent.
The exhibition of the 40th anniversary of Shaoxing's withdrawal from the county and establishment of the city showed the huge transformation of the city's transportation, water conservancy, industry, culture and social undertakings.

At the meeting, Wen Nuan, Party secretary of Shaoxing, said that Shaoxing's GDP increased from 2.2 billion yuan in 1983 to 735.1 billion yuan in 2022. The number of market entities exceeded 770,000, and the number of A-share listed companies reached 79, ranking third among the same type of cities in the country.
During the conference, the exhibition of Shaoxing's 40-year development achievements, the organization of Shaoxing's hometown tour and the launch of Shaoxing's local opera shows were also carried out to promote the bonding of Shaoxing people at home and abroad.
