Shaoxing holds 3rd Chinese Local Cuisine Development Conference

The 3rd Chinese Local Cuisine Development Conference was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Nov 14.
Nearly 200 enterprises and 400 people in the catering sector from all over the country gathered in Shaoxing to discuss the new achievements and new trends of local Chinese cuisine.
According to the "Chinese Local Cuisine Development Report 2023" released at the conference, the catering market has witnessed strong a recovery in 2023 and income is expected to exceed 5 trillion yuan ($690 billion).
Deng Li, vice-chairman of the China Cuisine Association, said that varieties of local cuisine with different flavors have enjoyed rapid development in recent years.
Deng added, "In 2023, consumption in catering has reached 370 billion yuan, an increase of 3.9 percent from 2019 and a new high among the same period in all previous years."
As the host of the conference, Shaoxing has promoted both the revitalization of time-honored brands like Xianheng Hotel and the development of emerging brands.
The conference also witnessed the establishment of China's first local cuisine research center in Shaoxing.
The center will focus on the innovative development of local cuisine to carry out more open and deeper learning and exchanges.
