Shaoxing Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation Association established

The Shaoxing Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation Association was formally established on Dec 6.

The association brings together voluntary participants, including institutions engaged in intangible cultural heritage preservation, project responsibility units, management personnel, researchers, representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and other individuals actively contributing to the protection efforts.

The election process resulted in the formation of the first council, with elected members subsequently appointing the executive council, president, vice presidents, and secretary-general.

Characterized by its citywide scope, professionalism, inclusiveness, and non-profit nature, the association is poised to play a crucial role in safeguarding Shaoxing's rich cultural legacy.

Shaoxing stands as a prominent hub for intangible cultural heritage, boasting a wealth of cultural resources. Currently, the city is home to 26 national-level intangible cultural heritage items, with 21 national-level inheritors.

At the provincial level, there are 97 items with 134 inheritors, while at the municipal level, there are 261 items with 365 inheritors. Furthermore, there are over 700 county-level intangible cultural heritage items with approximately 600 inheritors.
