The "2023 China City Livability Index Analysis Report" was recently unveiled in Beijing, with Shaoxing securing the 7th spot in the national livability rankings.
The report was based on international livability index analysis standards, integrates relevant urban data. Using specialized algorithms, it categorizes a city's livability into five key aspects: economic vitality and competitiveness, environmental protection and sustainability, urban security and stability, social and cultural conditions, and urban governance.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable development, Shaoxing has accelerated the transition from traditional industries like "wine, soy sauce, and dye" to the more advanced sectors of "chips, pharmaceuticals, and cutting-edge batteries."
In recent years, Shaoxing has achieved a reduction in PM2.5 concentration to 29 micrograms per cubic meter. Moreover, the proportion of water quality in the city's controlled sections meeting levels I-III has risen from 43.2 percent to 100 percent, achieving the status of a national "zero-waste city" pilot project.
In terms of urban security and social stability, Shaoxing is committed to becoming the "safest city." Criminal cases and incidents related to illegal activities, such as fraud and violations in the food safety sector, have seen continuous declines. The city remains vigilant against network and telecommunications fraud, contributing to its reputation as a secure and stable urban environment.
