This strong performance is attributed to the proactive measures taken by the city to stabilize and enhance the quality of foreign trade. Additionally, ongoing policy dividends from the Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership have continued to reveal themselves.
An authority from Shaoxing Customs stated that Shaoxing's foreign trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative has consistently experienced high growth. From January to November 2023, the city's exports to these countries reached 223.31 billion yuan, a 17.4 percent increase, accounting for 64.6 percent of all exports, with a growth rate of 17.4 percent.
Moreover, Shaoxing enterprises have accelerated their efforts to explore RCEP markets, achieving strong results. In the first 11 months of 2023, Shaoxing exported 85.08 billion yuan to other RCEP member countries, a 16.9 percent year-on-year increase.
Analysts from Shaoxing Customs said that the city will further encourage foreign trade enterprises to actively seize opportunities, utilize new platforms such as bonded zones and market procurement trade, and achieve stable growth and improved quality in foreign trade.
