Zhuji county-level city recently conducted a comprehensive review of its accomplishments in 2023 and charted a course for the upcoming year during the "Two Sessions," an annual gathering of the city's lawmakers and political advisors.

In its government work report, the city revealed last year's performance: a projected GDP growth of 7.5 percent, an 8 percent uptick in fixed asset investments, a robust 9.5 percent surge in total retail sales of social consumer goods; a 10 percent expansion in total foreign trade exports, the realization of a general public budget revenue of 9.72 billion yuan, and 5 percent and 6 percent rises in the per capita disposable incomes of urban and rural residents, respectively.

Zhuji has also set ambitious targets for 2024, aiming for a GDP growth of approximately 7 percent, with fixed asset investment projected to grow by around 9 percent. Additionally, the city aims for an 8 percent increase in total retail sales of social consumer goods, while self-operated exports are expected to surge by over 10 percent.

Moreover, plans are in place to synchronize the growth of general public budget revenue and per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents, narrowing the urban-rural income ratio to less than 1.6.

Zhuji has also put forward the concept of the "Five Firsts," emphasizing the primacy of modern industries, technological innovation, reform and opening-up, urban-rural integration, and common prosperity.

Recognizing industries as the cornerstone of development, Zhuji has not only rejuvenated traditional sectors like hosiery, pearls, and hardware through transformation and upgrading but also accelerated the development of emerging sectors such as intelligent vision, aerospace, new materials, and health.

In 2024, the city plans to expedite the establishment of key infrastructure projects such as an aerospace industrial park, a science and technology innovation base, and a "Future Town."

Emphasizing innovation as the primary catalyst for progress, Zhuji is committed to supporting local enterprises in establishing research institutes, overseas innovation centers, and implementing comprehensive life-cycle innovation fund mechanisms.
