The average number of daily border entries and exits during the approaching Spring Festival holiday is expected to reach 1.8 million, returning to the level in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, the immigration authority said on Sunday.

The number, which is expected to be reached during Spring Festival between Feb 10 and 17, is approximately 3.3 times higher than that in the same period last year, the National Immigration Administration said.

According to the administration, the peak of passenger flow at major international airport ports is expected to fall from Feb 8 to 11 and Feb 16 to 17.

The daily average border crossings are predicted to be 83,000 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, 39,000 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, 36,000 at Beijing Capital International Airport, and 16,000 at Hangzhou Xiaoshan and Chengdu Tianfu International Airports respectively.

For the adjacent land ports to Hong Kong and Macao, the peak passenger flow is expected to be mainly from Feb 11 to 15.

Additionally, the domestically-produced large cruise ship "Adora Magic City" will enter and exit from the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Port on Feb 14, with an expected total of 8,000 passengers.

Recently, the NIA issued specific instructions, requiring border inspection agencies nationwide to enhance monitoring of immigration flow and port operations. They are to promptly release information on local immigration flow and provide references for the public.

These agencies are also ordered to deploy sufficient forces to ensure that Chinese citizens' crossing border inspection queues do not exceed 30 minutes.

Furthermore, the NIA reminded both Chinese and overseas travelers to timely monitor changes in port passenger flow and customs clearance conditions before traveling. Chinese citizens are advised to be aware of the security situation and entry policies at their destination before leaving the country.
