Shaoxing in Zhejiang province is attracting and cultivating talents in an attempt to transform and upgrade its industries, according to Tide News on Sept 12.

Shaoxing has carried out strategic talent plans to build a talent ecosystem that includes top-tier talent, leading scientists and engineers, young tech talent, and other highly skilled workers. These efforts are expected to lead to the development of advanced manufacturing industrial clusters, the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and the formation of new industries.

Shaoxing has constructed high-standard collaborative innovation centers for local specialty industries. These centers attract high-level engineers and leverage shared models to resolve challenges to the development of industries, enterprises, and talents. To date, over 2,700 engineers have been registered at such centers.

To cultivate engineering talent, the city has promoted training programs between universities and enterprises offering master's and doctoral degrees in engineering and fostered joint research teams that include professors and graduate teams. The program has granted 464 master's degrees in engineering and resolved 456 technical issues.

Shaoxing has also developed a digital platform. Since its launch, the platform has attracted over 70,000 engineers, with over 600,000 monthly active users, offered more than 1,000 online courses, solved thousands of common problems, and served tens of thousands of enterprises.
