British chemist David Evans gave an inspirational lecture to children in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, Zhejiang province last December.

Hosted at Shaoxing University, the lecture drew an eager crowd of middle and elementary school students.

Evans, who serves as a professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, is celebrated for his ability to demystify chemistry with an infectious enthusiasm.

Using everyday items like candles, yeast powder, hydrogen peroxide, and medical alcohol, Evans conducted a series of experiments that were as visually stunning as they were educational.

Each demonstration was a gateway to understanding intricate chemical concepts such as oxidation-reduction reactions, transition state theory, and homogeneous catalysis.

The students watched in awe as Evans turned simple materials into a spectacle of chemical reactions, each experiment meticulously designed to illustrate the underlying scientific principles.

His approach not only made the science tangible but also ignited a sense of wonder and curiosity among the young audience.
