The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the sixth batch of national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors on March 17.
Shaoxing had 12 individuals selected, a rare achievement among Chinese cities, highlighting its deep cultural roots.
The new inheritors span six categories, including traditional music, theater, folk arts, sports and acrobatics, visual arts, and craftsmanship. Notably, five were recognized in traditional opera and folk performance, and four in traditional crafts such as yellow rice wine brewing, celadon firing, and bridge construction.
Shaoxing now has 33 national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors. The city plans to strengthen policy support for intangible cultural heritage transmission and further promote the creative and innovative development of traditional Chinese culture.
