Zhuji in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, has launched an initiative to host over 100 sports events throughout the year, aiming to drive economic, cultural, and tourism growth.
This plan, announced on April 19, focuses on creating a dynamic calendar of events, including basketball, soccer, cycling, fencing, marathons, and more, covering over 20 different sports.
Key events that will be highlighted include the Third Xishi Village BA Basketball Tournament, China Cycling Tour, Zhejiang Campus Soccer League Finals, Zhejiang Youth Fencing Championship, and signature events like the Xishi Half-Marathon and the Three Peaks Cross-Country Challenge.
Zhuji, already known as one of China's basketball hubs, will continue to leverage its basketball culture with events like the "Wine BA" and "Entrepreneur BA", which aim to promote sports exchanges across different industries.
The city is home to the largest number of standard basketball courts among the country's county-level cities and is the only county-level city to host both a full CBA season and an all-star weekend.
The "Village BA" tournament, a grassroots initiative, has evolved into a national sensation, showcasing rural vitalization and fostering economic growth through sports tourism.
