Shaoxing's Yuecheng district on April 25 unveiled its waterway tourism routes, which are set to begin service on May 1.
Timed for the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, the project offers visitors a chance to cruise the city's thousand-year-old waterway and experience its deep cultural heritage from the water.
The new route features two sections: the North Line and the West Line.
The North Line, spanning 13.7 kilometers, currently runs from Jinghu Lake Wetland Park to Datan. It combines lakes, wetlands, and the city's commercial core, blending natural scenery with urban life. This route aims to offer passengers the chance to "hear the oars, touch history, and enjoy the seasons."
A stop at Shaoxingbei Railway Station will soon be added, allowing tourists to transfer directly from train to boat for seamless access to city landmarks.
The West Line, 11.7 kilometers long, passes through five key points, including Shaoxingbei Railway Station and Yellow Rice Wine Town. It uses immersive storytelling and multimedia to deliver a four-dimensional experience — integrating water, boats, aerial views, and live-action scenes — to narrate over 2,500 years of Shaoxing's history.
