A video of Italian musician Luca Micheli singing the Chinese song Walk Through This Door went viral in Shaoxing following his June 4 performance at a community music event. Despite just four days of practice, his heartfelt rendition struck a chord with the audience.

Luca said the "door" symbolizes China's openness and new beginnings.

Now living in Shaoxing, Luca first visited the city during a 2015 graduation trip, drawn by an early interest in Chinese culture. In late 2024, he began working as a translator at a foreign trade company while continuing to study the language and local traditions.

He also shares daily life in Shaoxing on Facebook, aiming to dispel misconceptions about China. Luca is writing a book about his life in China. He said that he hopes to promote school exchanges and host concerts blending Chinese and Italian music.
