The 8th Zhejiang International Youth Film Festival will be held in Hangzhou from Sept 20 to 26, organizers announced.

Launched in 2013, the festival has been held seven times. It is dedicated to supporting young filmmakers by offering a platform to release new works and encouraging them to pursue their cinematic dreams in Zhejiang.

A key section of the festival is the Zhejiang Project Promotion program, which solicits new Chinese-language film projects from young creators worldwide.

Last year, 47 percent of projects came from directors born in the 1980s and 37 percent from those born in the 1990s. For the 2025 edition, the shares of 1980s- and 1990s-born directors are both 45.7 percent. Meanwhile, the number of submissions from post-2000 directors is about 1.5 times higher than last year, with overall project entries up 56 percent.
