Shaoxing showcases convention growth at Beijing fair
The 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services concluded in Beijing on Sept 14, featuring exhibitions and events by 85 countries and international organizations. Nearly 2,000 companies joined the event in person, highlighting the latest achievements across key areas of the services trade.
Shaoxing drew attention not only through its companies' technological innovations but also by presenting its progress in building itself into a leading convention and exhibition city. The city has so far completed five specialized exhibition halls.
In 2024, it hosted 46 major exhibitions with a total exhibition area of 450,000 square meters, attracting 4,030 exhibitors and 524,400 professional visitors, 12.3 percent of whom were from overseas. The convention and exhibition sector directly generated about 3.56 billion yuan ($491 million) in related consumption.
Shaoxing's service trade has also maintained steady growth in recent years. From January to July, the city's total imports and exports of services reached 5.01 billion yuan, up 24.99 percent year-on-year.
According to the municipal bureau of commerce, Shaoxing plans to cooperate with leading international institutions over the next three years to launch three to five high-level international exhibition projects, further enhancing Shaoxing's influence in the global convention industry.
