Shaoxing leads Zhejiang in sci-tech investment
Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province invested 8.71 billion yuan ($1.22 billion) in 38 key science and technology infrastructure projects in the first three quarters of this year, ranking first in the province by investment volume.
One highlight is an innovation-driven industrial project in Shangyu district, which recorded a cumulative investment of 180 million yuan in the first three quarters. The project's progress reflects the city's strong momentum in expanding effective investment in science and technology.
These major innovation projects form part of Zhejiang's provincial initiative aimed at driving large-scale, high-quality investment and strengthening technological capacity.
This year, Shaoxing has focused on advancing its innovation system by upgrading key components such as laboratories, research institutes, and technology parks to boost synergy between scientific and industrial innovation.
So far, all 19 new projects have broken ground, while the 19 ongoing ones have advanced faster than expected, with several now entering the equipment installation phase. Once completed, these projects are expected to further integrate research and industry.
