A provincial-level matchmaking event for the intelligent robot sector was held in Xinchang, Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 13.

Several cooperation agreements between universities and enterprises, along with new industrial investment projects, were signed at the event, with total planned investment exceeding 2 billion yuan ($282 million).

The event featured sessions for supply chain, providing a platform for companies to connect and engage in in-depth exchanges.

Robots are widely viewed as a crucial benchmark of high-end manufacturing and technological progress. General-purpose intelligent robots, in particular, are seen as an important application of artificial intelligence.

In recent years, Xinchang has taken an early lead in building this emerging sector. It has developed a framework supported by planning, policy, investment funds and key projects.

Xinchang has also established deep cooperation with top universities in an effort to strengthen the integration of research and industry.

The robot industry in Xinchang, Shaoxing is expected to surpass 10 billion yuan in annual output by 2030.
