Shaoxing, the hometown of Lu You, launched a cultural week dedicated to the poet on Nov 14, marking the 900th anniversary of his birth.
The event opened at Yuecheng district's cultural block, where a series of immersive activities brought Song-style (960-1279) aesthetics to life.
Visitors carrying themed maps moved between checkpoints to complete interactive tasks, poetry enthusiasts gathered at a traditional stage to recite classical poems, and a water-themed performance blended local opera and dance.
The cultural week also introduces a series of interactive activities designed to connect traditional culture with modern spending scenarios. Digital vouchers have been released, offering exclusive discounts at shops and restaurants. Visitors can explore a Song-themed (960-1279) market, stamp-collection games, and handmade craft workshops, creating an interactive, enjoyable, and accessible experience.
A representative from Yuecheng's publicity authority said the district aims to deepen the integration of culture, tourism, and commerce so that classical poetry and heritage can find new relevance in contemporary urban life. The goal is to inject vitality into the local economy, promote the inheritance and innovation of cultural assets, and support high-quality urban development.
