During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Xianyan town in Shengzhou, Shaoxing, has been promoting integrated rural construction, environmental improvements, and the fusion of agriculture, culture, and tourism to foster shared prosperity.
Villages are developing in clusters, enabling more residents to increase their income close to home. Cultural and tourism industries are flourishing, with picturesque villages gaining popularity and attracting steady visitor flows. Improved living conditions have enhanced residents' sense of wellbeing.
Xianyan town has focused on Shunhuang village as the core of its shared prosperity area, transitioning from isolated initiatives to coordinated development across villages. By the end of the year, four villages are expected to exceed 1 million yuan ($141,300) in operating revenue and six are expected to surpass 800,000 yuan, while all administrative villages are projected to surpass 600,000 yuan.
Xianyan town, known for its tea, has developed its tea culture during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Nestled in the mountains, Shunhuang village has become a popular destination for city residents and tourists seeking the charm of pastoral life.
In April this year, the town hosted the Shengzhou Spring Tea Season series, featuring tea tasting, discussions, and cultural activities that showcased tea production, tea farmers, and local tea traditions.
