Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, and Zaragoza, Spain, have in recent years expanded their partnership through reciprocal visits and a formal agreement establishing friendly relations.
In February this year, Mayor Natalia Chueca led a delegation to Jiaxing. In May, a delegation from Jiaxing returned the visit, with both sides outlining cooperation in six priority areas focusing on trade, education, and aviation logistics.
Business interaction has grown through two-way investment. Zaragoza-based Fersa has increased its presence in Jiaxing, now operating more than 30,000 square meters of leased facilities and preparing a new plant with an advanced research center. Meanwhile, Jiaxing-based TDG has invested in Zaragoza, opening a 9,500-square-meter new-energy base and securing its first client orders.
Educational collaboration is also progressing. Jiaxing University and the University of Zaragoza have signed an agreement covering academic exchanges and joint research in fields such as new energy, smart manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare. Joint laboratories and innovation centers will support collaborative research in new energy materials and smart manufacturing.
Logistics agencies from both cities have begun technical exchanges between Jiaxing Nanhu Airport and Zaragoza Airport, focusing on multimodal transport, warehousing systems, and cross-border e-commerce routes.
Jiaxing plans to expand this cooperation model to build a comprehensive framework for shared development.
